Andrew Toles now homeless?

From the OC Register:

"Once a promising part of the Dodgers’ roster, Andrew Toles’ struggles with personal problems has apparently left him living on the streets in Florida.

According to a report in the Miami Herald, the 28-year-old Toles was jailed Monday when police found him sleeping behind a Federal Express building at the Key West airport. Police officials said Toles was given several opportunities to leave the area but he refused and was arrested.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office’s report said Toles only had a black book bag with him and listed Toles’ address as the “streets of Key West.”

As of Friday, Toles remained at the Stock Island Detention Center on a $500 bond. A court date has been set for July 2.

Athletically gifted but personally troubled, Toles’ baseball career was littered with difficulties. He was an SEC All-Freshman at the University of Tennessee but was dismissed from the team for failing to maintain “a certain standard of accountability to which every member of the team must be held.” After transferring to Chipola College in Florida, he was suspended for breaking team rules.

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2012, Toles again showed ability on the field but was disciplined multiple times, placed on the inactive list in 2014 and released for disciplinary reasons prior to the 2015 season. He spent time that year working at a grocery store.

Toles was out of baseball until signing with the Dodgers following the 2015 season where former Rays and now Dodgers exec Andrew Friedman gave him a second chance. Toles rose quickly through the Dodgers’ minor-league system and made his big-league debut in July 2016. He hit .314 in 48 regular-season games then .364 during the Dodgers’ run to the National League Championship Series.

A torn ACL knocked Toles out of action early in 2017 but he returned to hit .306 at Triple-A and appear in 17 games with the Dodgers in 2018. In 2019, however, Toles did not report to spring training and was placed on the restricted list.

He did report to extended spring training briefly in late April 2019 but once again left the organization and had not been heard from since."
