I think the US Attorney is calling all of these payments "bribes" because he's operating under a statute that only applies to the misuse of public funds.

 

If one of your vendors or customers offers to pay you for agreeing to refer him some business in the future, is that a problem for you?

 

Back to Bland, as I said in another thread it doesn't matter whether he committed a crime.  If he did it, it's a firing offense (NO, IT'S NOT A FIRST AMENDMENT-FREE SPEECH ISSUE) unless "it" was part of his job description, in which case the guy who hired him should be fired.
