I don't see a downside to the NIT

At least from an Oregon perspective, you're gonna have a down season after going to the Big Dance the past 5 seasons.

So go to the NIT, play hard and try to get to MSG.

Same holds true for USC.

The experience it will provide for Oregon's 3 true freshmen and other underclassmen will only help them next year--hopefully this time in the REAL tournament.

I see no downside for Oregon....or any team.  Not a popular take, I know...lol

A history lesson...

In Dana's first season in Eugene after we fired Ernie Kent for going 16-16, Oregon went to the CBI and won it (Yippee! I know...).  Then followed up the next year by winning 2 games in the NIT.

After that, Oregon went to 5 straight dances, culminating in last season's Final Four.

So I'd wager those first CBI and NIT seasons help to set up the ducks for their eventual strong runs in the tourney including not one single one & done.

Ducks finished in the final 32 twice, sweet 16, elite 8 and final 4 in those 5 years.

Quack on for the NIT!  :-)
