With the other "boosters" that made programs strong. 

Back in the 1950s  this was considered normal. In  those days the mantra "loose lips sink ships" also applied to the Organization. One went along with whatever the boss (the Organization) did. The concepts of "whistleblowing" and "investigative reporting" were minimal if  not nonexistant. Coaches accepted what boosters did, even if today we would call it "cheating". Just a sign of the times.

Too bad Oregon didn't have more effective boosters then.
