CU's bowl loss to Oklahoma State doesn't mean jackshit. This was clearly a team that had almost been to the top of the mountain and then fell flat on their face. They were not the same team anymore after that. The Alamo Bowl didn't mean anything to them at that point. I'm not saying it shouldn't have, or that they shouldn't have put up more of a fight. But that game has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not they belonged in the Rose Bowl. Absolutely nothing.
As for Ohio State, they didn't belong in the college football playoffs for the exact same reason that USC didn't belong in the Rose Bowl. They didn't win their division. End of story. It has nothing to do with whether or not they were probably the better team at that point in time. I don't understand why you guys can't understand this. This is very reminiscent of USC in 2002. They certainly looked like the best team at the end of the season, and they even played like it in the Orange Bowl. But they weren't in the national championship game because they had lost a couple of games earlier in the season. That's the way it goes.
