Recruiting tidbits

By: Conquest2000

Just stuff I heard from a some people I know at USC who assit in the recruiting dept and someone I know at Scout.  Some other stuff is from Twitter.

Oregon Offers Matthew Pola-Mao's brother of incoming USC S Pola-Mao.  USC has yet to offer, the younger brother is a DT, 6-2, 295lbs with offers from Oregon, Wash, Arizona, Tenn, ASU, and BYU

If the Mater Dei LB and/or Serra LB sign with USC, look for Bo Calvert and Raymond Scott to move on elsewhere.  Calvert is getting the full court press from ND and he is interested, for Scott Oklahoma, Michigan and Oregon are hard after him and he has visited all three.  The parting would be mutual.

Sad to let two OC kids get away but USC is moving off of Amon-Ra St Brown (ND and Stanford) and Issac Taylor-Stuart (Stanford, LSU and Alabama) Both will probably make OV to USC in the fall and both will be signing day commits but i wouldn't hold my breath.  Both really like other schools alot more.  To be honest it isn't that big of a loss, WR is loaded again in CA this year and we will probably get Jalen Hall, who is better right now than St Brown and anyone on our current roster.  At CB, we already have Marcus Johnson who is testing off the charts this spring at camps and will move up the rankings, Griffin is in just a matter of when not if, if we take a 3rd CB will probably be one of the two tall lanky kids who are considered Athletes, Bryan Addison from Serra and a kid out of Seattle.   Remember incoming frosh Greg Johnson could end up at CB.  So taking three this year may not happen.

If we take a RB our first choice would be big back Chris Curry from Florida, 2019 and 2020 are loaded at RB.  So we may pass this year.

We have made up huge ground on three OOS 5 star kids,  OT Jackson Camran (probably Clemson), DE Tyreke Smith (Probably tOSU) and DE Micah Parsons (recent PSU decommit, but tOSU, PSU, USC, MICH, Alabama, FSU, etc etc).  the two DE's are the real surprise as DE is a HUGE need for USC right now. HUGE.  Smith is ready to play now.

Don't be shocked if we land Osa Masina's brother, A LB from Utah, USC offered recently.

C Justin Dedich who it seemed like it was a forgone conclusion to USC, is now probably going to UCLA.  I guess the staff has soured our C depth is too much.

I will go out on a limb and say we will flip Duke commit Tahj Rice, DE from Kentucky.  Too good a player to go to Duke and USC has not stopped recruiting him, while others have dropped off.

Also remember the name Chaz Neal, 3 star DE from Florida (Right now it is the USC's that have offered) I will be honest he has horible get off but is super raw and a freaky athlete, 6'7 DE who can run, and  could move down inside if needed.

My friend at Scout pointed out something to me, in the past if USC missed out on a local kid he usually ended up at UCLA.  With the guys I have mentioned only the C Dedich is considering UCLA.  st Brown, Calvert, Scott, Taylor-Stuart, and Addison have zero interest in UCLA.  UCLA is threatening to lose substantial foothold in SoCal Football recruiting.   My friend said anyone of these players would help UCLA and be an upgrade over their current talent or guys they are currently after in the 2018 cycle.
