  Up to that point, most schools just let it happen.  Ucly campaigned for the Great One all year, and in the end had to stress his 3 year career.  USC learned its lesson.  Preseason, nothing was known about OJ, USC had no campaign.  After seeing that injustice, schools began the ramped up campaigns.  The birth of the Sports Information Departments era on campus was a eaction to that ridiculous decision.  Nowadays, everybody invests plenty in selling their guys
