I agree, this should have happened a month ago but we still don't know the details of what the ultimate buy-out would be after 2018, or 2019.  That number could be relatively low. That way SC can say they gave Helton a vote of confidence and still not pay out a huge amount after 2018 or 2019, if things go south.

My guess is it's a low buyout, considering USC has been low-balling Helton the whole time.  I suspect Helton got a salary bump, but I'm sure he's still not close to the top 10 of highest paid head coaches in college football.
