...but only "partly".

I'm sure there remains quite a majority who feel thanks largely to Nike and Oregon, college football is not what it once was.  All thanks to big business being so much more a part of it than it was in, say, 2000.  And because of that, traditional powers like USC now struggle more than they used to.

They might be right.  In a very small way.

But to specifically blame Oregon for this? if Phil Knight just worked at Montgomery Wards in their shoe department after college, settled down, got married, and now lives off of his 401k as a retired shoe salesman, and that was it, would big business and shoe companies have never entered college sports?

I'll let someone smarter than me answer that
