Churchill thought the WW I &II Victory useless

Churchills choices lost an empire, all of Britains status, and nearly the war. After Churchill saw the enhancement of Soviet power and the total failure of all British war aims he knew he and England failed.

Churchill said: "We answered all the tests. But it was useless."

Even though he wrote the history falsifying his image at length he knew the failure.

While historians may argue over Churchill's culpability for the loss of that status[Englands empire], it was a development over which Churchill himself despaired. This is why, as an old man, he spoke of Britain's experience during the two world wars, and lamented: ''We answered all the tests. But it was useless.''
