Yes, USC has a Chief Threat Assessment Officer.  Considering what has happened at USC and across the country over the past (days, months, years, you name it), to ask if that's necessary is asinine.  Threats come in all shapes and sizes and they involve issues to and from individuals as well as groups.  ALL universities and colleges need this and they need it now.  Period.  USC is actually the leader in this field and other universities are rightly asking themselves how they can model the behavior and it's utterly critical that they do.
