So.....anyone wanna talk recruiting?

By: LA Duck

Since this is a recruiting board and this is LOI Day.

Ok, I'll start...

Oregon did great--ending up with its top-ranked class ever....sitting at #7 in the nation.

And oddly only with teams all from the south ahead of Oregon in the ranking.

Ducks pulled in a better class than all of the Big 10 and the ACC (including Clemson--crazy!)

Only waiting on 4-star Puka Nacua....who likely will decide between Huskies/Ducks/Trojans/Bruins by Friday or so.

It's totally clear to me that USC's current concerns in their football program aided Oregon's efforts here. Oregon likely doesn't land the #7 class if USC had been USC. And most years USC will indeed be USC.

The Huskies landed a number of top recruits we wanted, and that hurts. And may land Puka, too, still. Seems like the battle for the p12 north will shift to a Washington-Oregon border war, if Oregon ever figures out how to beat Leach and WSU, that is.

But what's interesting is that even through all of the relative success of the Chip/Helfrich years (Rose Bowl wins, playoff wins, championship berths), Oregon never pulled in a better class than this one. The best one prior to this was ranked #11.

We still have to find out if Oregon has the coaches who will mold these players into consistent winners. But the starting clay (no pun intended, Trojans!) is very important in these sorts of things. You don't win championships without a couple of top 10 ranked teams....we quacks know that well--we tried without, and failed both times.

Nonetheless, we ducks are pretty excited for the future. Especially Donald.

How'd the rest of you do?
