I can certainly appreciate your passion, and there is no doubt our civil liberties are eroded a little bit more every year. I don't agree with everything you state but appreciate a well thought out argument. I know you have the amendment commited to memoy, but here is the text:


A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.


Shall not be infringed is open to some interpretation. I don't believe that people with mental history should have guns. Yet if one is to take the absolute letter of the law "shall not be infringed", then does that mean anybody can get a gun? Without restrictions? No background checks? Kind of like the right to free speech doesn't give me the right to yell fire in a movie theatre. IMO.


We do have an issue in this country with gun violence, and whatever we are doing now is not working. I think there has to be rational discussion and sometnig has to be changed. I don't know what, but something has to be different.
