The South started the war.

1. Yes, Lincoln violated the law and the Constitution once the war started.  He openly admitted that several times.  (Thank God he did it.)

2. The South started the war.  Once a beligerent declares war or attacks US forces, Lincoln was free to respond wirthout Congressional approval, although Congress later approved most of what he did. 

3. Sucession violates the Constitution and is illegal.  700,000 dead Americans proved that.

4. Lincoln wasn't the first President to ignore a Supreme Court ruling.  Jackson did the same thing 30 years earlier in the Cherokee case which lead to the Trail of Tears.
