The point i made intitially and still stand by is that the North made an earnest effort to abolish slavery from the outset of our counrtry's birth, whereas the South made no effort because of abolitions affect on its agarian economy. The North and South were not the same in terms of how they felt about slavery evidenced by how they voted on it, with all north states having abolished it by 1804. Thats a fact. Yes, old habits die hard, and it took a while for all the slaves in the north to be free, but to think that the north was just like South is not historically factual or accurate
