oh man, you bought Rivian? Its tanking over reports it is burning thru cash at a frantic pace. they cant reduce their costs enough to build a profitable car. and at a time when costs are increasing due to inflationary pressures. You saw what happened when they tried to raise prices. The backlash made them blink. They announced a $12000 dollar per car increase on 70,000 pre orders. Then when the cancellations rolled in they blinked and promised to absorb the increases. $12000 X 70, 000 cars is an $840M hit. Cant make up losses with volume, just makes the losses bigger. I ran a mortgage company in 2008. We broke a production record and funded $1b in loans and lost money . No company party to celebrate, we were all depressed. The more loans we made the more money we lost. Rivian is straddling that line.

They are carrying a ton of debt too. But then Tesla was in the same shape at one time.

Maybe true. But chicks sure dig 'em!! I've bought my wife Audis (A3s / A6s) and BMWs (3s and 5s). She's a meh and has a "give me a corolla any day" attitude. Last November though, I got her a Model 3 and oh emm geeee, night and day. She's asking me to wash that thing every week and she complains when I drive it. All her girlfriends rave about Teslas too. But yep, they LOOK ALL THE SAME! I'm still kicking myself for not getting a porsche taycan (base version), for just 73k early last year (I backed out). I could have driven that sucker for a year and sell it for over the price that I paid for. Ohhhsss well. My bro, however, was able to get on the waitlist for a Rivian SUV, right before they jacked up the price. I'm in the first 50k for a Cyber truck (cheapo version $40k) --> I wonder by how much they'll jack up the price of the base trim (wishful thinking that they don't).

Wait until you drive your new Model S Plaid Java. The opposite of boring. Most fun car I have ever driven. That said, I have never been a car guy, until i drove a Tesla.
