What I don't know is whether that would count as local TV local radio and therefore allow the Dodgers to keep 100% of that or more likely
Since it's an international thing, I would think that mlb would control that. Like they control the national TV, radio deals, and playoff broadcast and money
But if there was anyway for the Dodgers to do it? They should because I think there's a very good possibility of doing it. Think of this. I don't know if Japanese people presently subscribe to Internet related MLB content. But what if the Dodgers could get 2 million Japanese to subscribe for five dollars a month to an all access channel that would also broadcast dodger feed from the camera that already is in place, and perhaps a broadcaster in a studio in Japan broadcasting off the screen the way they did in Covid
That would be $10 million a month and the season is six months they could generate $60 million in revenue, and the only real cost would be the tech guy to set up the streaming and the hired broadcaster in Japan. The entire cost of the operation would probably be $200,000, and perhaps a similar amount to set up the website and the ability to process orders. Free cash.
Dodgers
all $700 million. There are costs. They just get a cut.
I am them I set up my own subscription podcast or channel or tv deal in Japanese so the whole country can subscribe and watch ohtani and Yamamoto play
Recall Shohei striking out Trout in the WBC. Now picture Sho taking a leading role in the Dodgers winning a World Series.
Japan will lose its freaking mind and open their wallets.
In the country of Hello Kitty, the one-eyed Dodger is king.
