I agree. Mostly because I disagree with your premise about hitting. We all remember the moments but I think the playoffs are all about a hit starter becoming unhittable for 2-3 weeks. And if you can have two? You’re unreal.

I think of Maddie baumgarner. The nationals with scherzer and strassberg. All the Braves pitchers you mentioned. Yeah agree w you there in only one ring. The Astros had Justin juiced verlander and usually 1-2 other top guys.

to me you have to play good d if you’re going to build on pitching. And you have to have lockdown pen. You need a horse of a starter and usually 1 other guy step up.

So what did La have? It changed every series. Flaherry literally alternated every start between being an ace and sucking. With no middle ground. Yamamamamoto got rocked in opening game vs pads and then was unhittable in game 5 and out dueled Darvish. And was an ace versus the two ny teams. So yeah. I guess he’s one though he only gave La one each series.

Flaherty gave La one each series too but he also gave one away.

They only let buhler pitch about every ten days and he got rocked by sd. And lost. And then he just destroyed both ny teams both in critical game 3s on the road.

So yeah. Not sure how to justify my horse theory here but they clearly got stellar performances multiple. from each of those 3 guys. And la wound up winning a couple bullpen games. Which I’d say was a surprise. And even after losing a bullpen game in game 4 to the ya js they basically went back to ack and won a bullpen game last night.

I saw the same. Rhey listed all the 3-0 leads and I was surprised. Like 25 of them. And only 4 had gone to game 5. I never would have guessed that. And none to game 6? That’s got to be one of the strangest statistics in all of sports.

I also thought the catchers interference on Ohtani was good timing because he wasn’t swinging well. And I believe it moved the runner up from 1. I did not realize that catcher’s interference does not move all runners up. Apparently it’s just like a walk. Happens a lot more lately I read this year. Not sure why catchers are getting so close. As a batter you could create that if you wanted. Man that must hurt.

And the balk on the disengagement. Again I’d like to know that rule. Is that per batter? To the same base? Per inning? I think I’ll look that up. I mean. I go to first. One. Then he steals second. And I step off and wipe my nose. Two? Then he’s bunted to 3. I step off and stare at him. 3?

Or is it all at a guy on one base and all during the same batter? I’m gonna look that up.

Either way those are two more. Way too many for a World Series team. And in such a crucial game. What a time to melt down.
