It's really the difference in AB philosophy between North America and Asia:
Asian batters often fly open with the front shoulder, especially if they're left-handed, it propels them towards first. Asian righties poke at the ball to start their sprint to first.
American players keep the front shoulder in and the front foot down on a swing. Americans only think about power generally. Not getting down the line.
