A few years ago when Manny Machado was a Dodger rental he led team in rbis (not batting average) but Java kept saying he sucks. He may have had an error or two as Java so of course he said he sucks as a defender although he has won a Gold Glove.
Anyhoos. I was cracking up about Javas insistence that I dont Know baseball (sound familiar??) and that rbi’s are a useless oldschool stat that are more about where you bat in the lineup. As a kid cheering on my fav player to knock in the winning run I always felt rbis were important. Java proceeded to explain to me how this is very outdated thinking. While Dodgers were in playoffs.
I thought a funny comment was to bet Java that the team With the most rbi’s would
Win. He didnt take the bet. 🤔
Here is the request. I can remember someone telling Java to stop With the rbi argument since I was kicking his ass with it.
Since then Java doenst Seem to recall this argument EITHER.
CAN I GET A WITNESS??? Who was it that told Java to stand down? Anyone want to stand for the truth and the 1st Amendment here. As an American.
PT, it has been a long-standing board tradition that no one should jump in when two guys are in a mano a mano. Jumping in and shanking someone from behind with a shiv is frowned upon.
It is a very moving call for help,” Anyone want to stand for the truth and the 1st Amendment here. As an American.” I took off my hat and put my right hand on my chest. USA! USA!
I have seen other guys call for help only to be met with silence.
Circle the wagons and fight the best you can.
The argument wasnt ONLY about Manny. It was ALSO post season RBIs.
I dont think that is something you still want to debate. If you do, we can continue. Bet still Stands.
I was asking for the person who told you to stop embarrassing yourself. Thats not a lifeline. Thats a confirmation of what was said. I asked for a witness. Not help.
Please post andrews friedmans synopsis on rbis you just stated. I would like to fact check that.
you really do have a huge problem
With the truth. And wasting breath.
What happened was manny was a rental. I didn’t appreciate his attitude and lack of hustle and his slow feet. I am not alone
You countered that he was great and proof was rbi. I accurately poinTed out that sabermetrics. Of which Andrew Friedman and most modern baseball gms are disciples. Don’t value rbi greatly
They don’t believe in clutch players. They are scientists. They believe everything regresses to the mean. The mean of your career. So if you’re a 300 hitter you’ll eventually be a 300 hitter with runners in scoring position. And that rbi are a function . Of where you hit and who hits in front of you and what they did. Seems fairly Innocuous to me frankly. But no. Like Sam Darnold ball hugging or a girl who knows she’s lost an argument. You go on. And on. And on
Manny hasn’t hit over 300 but once in 6 years. Hasn’t hit more than 32 hr in 7. Since before he was a pad or a dodger. And manny hasn’t appeared in any nlcs or any World Series. Much less win one.
Manny is a dangerous hitter. A good fielder when he wants to be. A half effort guy. And a clubhouse cancer. He also represents almost everything that is wrong with the modern day athlete. Other than that he’s terrific. If he’s so great how come he, Juan Soto and Fernando Tatis all on the same team couldn’t win Jack?
But more importantly, how come you’re asking others to fight your fight? How come you can’t stand up for yourself? Is your logic your argument or your intellect not sufficient? Hey, if you can’t win an argument, maybe you can win an election, good luck.
