They have yamamoto on 6 days rest. Stone on 5. And who are they throwing? Landon knack. Guess that’s what happens when you have a 7.5 game lead 3 weeks into May.
In many ways this was my advice. Although mine was more like have buehler throw 4-5 innings while he built up strength and then have knack or stone or grove throw the last 4-5. Split the game and basically have two starters and save the pen. In fact I would do this and use about 7 starters and that way you only need about 4-5 guys in the pen
Serious. Take two spots in the rotation that the guys can’t go long. Have them go 4-5 innings piggy back. And you have to worry about bullpen the other 3 days. Everyone gets innings. Everyone gets rest. Bullpen goes 3 days a week and everyone has a day off. So your starters all throw every 6 days.
Anyway they’re experimenting. And when miller and kershaw come back I’d totally do this. Have both split starts. Run a 7-8 man starting rotation. Take pressure off the one. And come playoff time pick the 3-4 guys who are throwing the best. They’re your playoff starters. Guys who can adapt to the pen become long men or 6th inning guys. And the top relievers become role men in post season. And anyone who kind of falls between the cracks works out in Arizona waiting for a playoff injury
The LAD have used 25 pitchers this season and they might use 35 before the year is over. They have a 3.17 ERA through 48 games and I don’t know if they’ve ever had as many solid arms available to contribute in ANY one season. They’re not running out of starters this October. In fact, they have a surplus that no other team is getting its hand on.
