Wow, they do it again. I would not say he's a top ace. But he's a MLB starter who will help solidify their rotation and is an excellent rotation piece.
Dodgers to Acquire Tigers Star Pitcher in Blockbuster Trade Before Deadline (msn.com)
The Los Angeles Dodgers have done it.
Minutes before Tuesday's 6 p.m. ET trade deadline, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported the Dodgers were acquiring right-handed starting pitcher Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers.
Flaherty is going to wind up being the best pitcher traded at the deadline, and he's headed to Los Angeles, the city where he grew up. Headed back to Detroit are catcher/first baseman Thayron Liranzo and shortstop Trey Sweeney. Both are young prospects in the Dodgers' organization
He's had an interesting career. He started his career with the Cardinals as a bonified ace, then fell off the past couple years. Got worse after he was traded to Baltimore last season. But revived his career this season.
He was the top starter that actually got traded. Crochet was never moved. His demand for an extension from a new team scared teams away. Skubal, Flaherty's teammate, stayed put also.
