Hernandez was the second most valuable player in the World Series. His batting average was actually higher than Freeman's. And to say he was clutch is an understatement. It would be a shame to see him leave the Dodgers.
Where does all this money come from? If you combine all of the payrolls of all MLB teams, it's higher than the GDP of most nations on the planet. Can it ALL be from TV?
If you look at the numbers that I have previously posted, a qualifying offer would make no sense for one. I would simply be a courtesy to open negotiations for the other. I believe if you lose someone you give a qualifying offer to that you get compensation so it makes sense for teoscar.
Blake snell only makes sense because he’s a lefty. Nothing else about him is appealing.
Buehlar is likely a 8.5 million plus incentives guy. I would sign him for $8.5 million with incetIves that can take him to $13 million with 20 starts. Or 120 innings. Or something like that. And a second year dodger option for $15 million with incentives up to $20 million. He has to realize that this is not all about performance. This is about being 30 years old and having had to Tommy John’s. The buyout of the second year would be 4 million meaning even if he sucked he would make 12.5 million. In an unsuccessful prove it year. The upside for the Dodgers. If he pitches like he’s capable like he did in the playoffs. With durability. They could have a Frontline starter. A top five or 10 arm in the National League for two years and 33 million in today’s economy that’s a bargain.
Don't think Teoscar is going to like that. Maybe that's a starting point? He'll likely test the FA market, get a better deal, move on, and the Dodgers get a draft pick from the new team. We did that with Hanley Ramirez back in the day, lost him. He was our best hitter in 2013.
I think with Buehler it likely means they are negotiating
