I think they pass on Snell and fried due to price. Buehler wants to come back and could be comparatively affordable. Sasaki would almost be free. You have to pick him. Hes also 23 and la would control him for about 5-6 years.

UPDATE.

If sasaki comes as cheaply as we suspect then here’s what I think LA will do. I think they will cut Flaherty loose. I think they will trade Gonsolin and may. They really don’t have any more time to let may show up and get bombed for 2 months to get his shaky stuff back. Both are high end arms. Both cheap. Maybe trade them both to the same team for a cf. shoot throw Chris Taylor in there too

So for pitching remember. Ohtani and kershaw won’t be ready iowning day.

Also. You just got money freed up w sasaki being cheap. Think like a GM. What do Yamamoto. Sasaki. Ohtani Glasnow buehler and Gonsolin all have in common? They’re all right handed.

Mad fried is a lefty. From LA. Who wants to pitch for LA. Therefore

I think LA would try to sign him. And Buehler. The latter to a prove it deal.

That would leave us in opening day

ohtani and Kershaw would slowly round into shape and step in when the first starter went down with a Tj. Kershaw would rotate in when guys went in the DL for 19 days

Fried is 30 and would sign for 6 years $150 million with a opt out after 3-4. Throw in buehlers prove it for about half that annually. Ohtani defereal Sqsqki being cheap. Suddenly you have a really affordable staff

And teo to rf and pages to lf loses you a lot of offensive production. I think pages is a 220 guy with low oba. No walks. And probably 20 hr. Think you need to do better in left. Those numbers might. Might. Might fly in cf

If Adames is signed, Betts at 2b, it's those positions where production goes way up. Compared to Rojas and Lux last season. I don't think CF(Edman?) and LF have to be upgraded vis a vis improvements everywhere else, especially starting pitching. Plus Pages is young and may develop. We'll see.

CF and LF are lower on the list of priorities this offseason. Maybe they can be addressed at trade deadline if necessary.

A caveat to that would be if they thought Ohtani's offensive production takes a hit in 2025 due to the shoulder. Then you get a big bat that can play LF or RF. They could try a hailmary with Soto like 4 years $200m+ with opt outs in most years. Something like that.

Sasaki is due for elbow surgery pretty soon himself. He throws too hard and starts. He will not avoid missing a season. Which is why getting him cheap is such a bonus. And why you have so many starters in Spring.

Your projection includes no new FA starters, and even cuts one loose(Flaherty). I think they will add a FA starter and/or keep Flaherty

I wonder what they do with May. His stuff is electric, he'd a perfect late inning inn reliever. Roberts says he wants another flame throwing reliever in addition to keeping Treinan. It could be him.

Sasaki is a fa addition. Gonsolin is an addition. Ohtani is an addition.

I think they carry 7 established starters and that’s what I listed. I hear that two of their 3 young TJ youngsters could be back next year. That would be Stone River Ryan and I forgot the 3rd. Young one. So if two of those come back. And may. And kooech wants to start. That’s a lot of arms. They don’t need to spend $30 million on another.

If I kept anyone it would be flaherty

That means you cut flaherty loose. Tough call but I think you do even though he’s better than Gonsolin.

Tony is way cheaper. $5.5 million. Flaherty will probably demand $25 million for 5 years. And buehler has history with La. Bigger upside. And likely about half of flaherty cost

Snell and Fried are both going to be $30 million your guys and their agents are going to try to get them 5 to 6 years. That's a lot for guys who will be 31 and 32 next year

So my rotation would eventually be

Ohtani

Sasaki

Yamamamamamoto

Buehler

Glasnow

With Gonsolin and Kershaw as first men up with the inevitable arm problems pop up.

From the video I saw of sasaki that would be a rotation rivaling the great Braves rotations of Smolz. Glavine. Avery. Maddux. And who was the other one? Amazing those rotations only won one title. Baseball and the playoffs are cruel games
