Oh man what a bummer
He made comments last year about not being be able to spend money when you're gone, and liked spending money. The Padres are over-leveraged now, taking loans to pay their overbloated salary base, and the over-spending didn't get them a WS title before he passed, assuming that was the motivation.
If I was a Padre fan I would appreciate it. They're at least a relevant talking point for their first time. RIP
