You may not, but as I looked it up, that's how they are going to rule it. I am not sure whether I agree or not. Not sure I care that much.
Just saying I actually found it and found what they plan to do about it. There is another minor rule change or application too and I forget what it is. All rare nuanced stuff.
I mean, you can run through first and run through home, can't do so at 2 and 3. I know you're not saying it's a dead ball like those, but I am just saying they CAN apply different things to different bases.
Can’t. Won’t. This is a first and third two out ground ball toward the bag in a non full count situation. Doesn’t happen often enough to be a thing
I mean. You could argue that this is the consequence of not allowing guys sliding to take the pivot man out. By staying up you get in the way legally and you’re gonna be out so why not. Just run through the bag. First time a middle infielder with enough time puts one in a guys forehead that may change things.
On a double play ball I’m thinking of you do that you might be called for interference and the double play awarded. So if baseball wanted to crack down on it I could see them telling umpires to do that. Just like they told them a few years ago tk narrow the strike zone but make it talller. And the nfl tells refs to start calling roughing the passer when a qb flinches or goes down
I just looked it up. They are going to “ interpret” this in this manner.
If someone runs through the bag like this with two out they are going to say he abandoned the bag.
As such. That runner on 3rd has to have scored before he got to the bag.
If not then inning over no score. If he has scored then obviously the runner is going to be out and the run counts.
In some ways it’s takes a lot of the motive for doing it away It’s not a revolutionary play but it’s interesting
