Either one of you know anything about IMG Academy in Bradenton Fla? More specifically, you or any of your coaches ever been contacted by their recruiters? Thanks
Thanks, Coach. Gonna download as soon as I find my Apple password.
Kid did well in his first HS game. Went 1-4 with 2 RBIs, including a double down the right field line. Good news is he hit the ball hard all four ABs (2 hard grounders to the right side, and one line drive to the right fielder). He’s a little late on his swing right now, but we believe that’s due to a slight adjustment he made with his swing. He said he feels comfortable and is confident he will start shooting them up the middle next game (Saturday).
Professional sports school. Mostly heard of them through football.
I and most who know me. Always had an arrogance about so cal baseball being played year round and being the best in the land.
I didn’t coach at that level for long but in the brief period I did I think the players we put in collegiate and professional baseball validated my opinion about the quantity in the area.
Once we got into hs I wasn’t really sure how it all operated. I assumed the high schools had year round programs. That’s when my kids played with PFA. You’ve seen the name mike Webster out here I think. Pretty well known guy. He was always angry at me for not promoting my kid more.
I knew my kids were coming from small schools and would be like 5’9 5’10 type guys. 145-160. I also knew they were 4.3-4.6 students so I made a calculated decision that academics not sports was the collegiate focus. Did so because they could have played low level d1 or d2. At the USC camp my middle son was rated an “average” prospect by the coaches.
That crushed him. Never been average at anything. But they were rating him for how they as a d1 program saw him. Average. Average d1 player. I thought that was impressive. He thought it was insulting. Oh well. Either way it means he could have played low level and been a starter or been a towel boy in D1.
Solution? Academic scholarship and all that for both.
All that to say I was never great at steering through the elite channels of recruiting. I personally don’t see why anyone would go to Florida to be a baseball player when you do have a pfa and other organizations out here.
Is king imo, but sec country is catching up. Learned today that IMG Academy is ranked #2 in the nation in baseball, right behind Corona HS….. Got the impression IMG guy wanted to make an introduction in case the kid continues to grow as a player.
Maybe but look who is one and three and nine and 12 etc. Just not sure why anyone would move their kid 3000 miles away from a baseball hot bed to go to another baseball hot bed.
No sir. I’ve been fortunate to work with a handful of kids who played and graduated from west coast teams like Cal State Fullerton, CS Long Beach, SD state, UCLA and several smaller west coast programs.
Thanks. We’ll definitely keep our options open. Too early to tell if he’s going to reach his goal and play a D1 sport, who knows, he needs to continue to grow physicality . Baseball looks like the best bet. Might have a chance at QB. Also played free safety, but definitely not ready to tackle varsity players, at least not this past season. I told him the truth 😂
Make a list of schools. Consider attending several summer baseball camps at those universities to show them that you’re interested in their programs. Make 100% sure that your kids keep their grades up!
Thanks,,, Looks like he’s going to get straight As both semesters freshman year. I prosmised him a car for his 16th bday this fall if he pulls it off. No incentives for athletic accomplishments. Doesn’t need motivating to play. It’s all he thinks about. We have to pull him away at times.

Why do you ask?
