On a visit to Puerto Rico I saw kids playing pelota with a stick and a ball that from my vantage point looked like it was covered with duct tape. Barefoot. No baseball field, just a dirt street with rocks and potholes. Imagine playing like that and then one day you get a real glove, shoes, a real ball and play on a perfect field. Or does the kid with the private coach, top tier equipment, good nutrition have the edge?

I put my money on the kid going through greater adversity. [X}
