I was five years old, almost six. Family had seasons tx just inside first base , right field side, huge crowd because the yankees were in town. Ball bounced of some dudes hands just behind me and right into my lap and I caught it in my hands. Pile of "adults" jumped on me and some asshole tore it out of my hands. I hope he died of gone cancer young. Batter was Mickey Mantle. At least that's what my dad told me. He was part of the pile.
Next was middle of high school. I got sent to get everybody food. Hated that. I got to the top of the tunnel just behind angel's dugout and started to turn up the few steps and saw everyone stand up around me. I looked up as the ball smashed right in the middle of hot dogs, peanuts (warm paper bags) and mustard flew everywhere. Keep it in the glove compartment and have Never gotten into a car accident. Batter was Rick Miller . Bo sox.
Next was a screaming foul bowl ( before they put the nets up) that hit the girl behind me from my current seats that I have had for more than a decade. Hit her right in the face as I ducked . Blood everywhere. Pretty college girl crying like a toddler. So I gave her the ball as she was escorted to go get some stitches. Nasty cut. She didn't even say thank you.
Last one was a Mike Trout foul ball that I caught in my hat 5 years ago. Man did that thing take forever to come down.
So I have two of them. One still sits in my car. Anyone get more? sc
When I first came to Texas I was still working for a Japanese golf equipment company. A very exclusive private club in town reached out to me. Preston Trail. Held the Nelson for 15 years before being moved to Las Colinas. 250k initiation. Very small membership. Male only club. No female members, or staff. First time I drove onto the property I got approached by two security plain clothes and escorted to the golf shop. lol
First time for that and Ive played Bel Air, and LACC.
The restaurant is upstairs with a dining area overlooking part of the property. Along with the men’s locker room.
Story goes, Mick would shower, dry off as he walked into the dining hall. And would sit full nude at the table as they served him his meals.
Heard he was a total asshole.
Buried in an exclusive cemetery in north Dallas. Same place as Tom Landry, Lamar Hunt, Pinky Higgins, Bill Forrester.
Imagine if he wasn't such a lush? Or he didn't have the early career knee injury? He would've approached Babe Ruth numbers, while stealing 30-40 bases per year
Foul ball stories.
