Didn’t watch any of the games but pitching changes are the hardest thing any manager does and if you have a pitching challenged team as USC does you are just cobing things together hoping some pitchers emerge as quality pitchers. Not sure any criticism of Stankewicz is justified this early in the season. He doesn’t have much to work with. However this is the best series win that USC has had in awhile.
long ways to go. USC is only 0.500 on the season, and this weekend's wins were the first vs a ranked team. I wouldn't get too excited just yet. But outside of the bruin series, this will be the toughest team usc faces this season.
Don’t want to speak too early, but I think we have a real coach now. Total rebuilding year, so these are really nice wins. Need a big recruiting year. Hoping some NIL $$$ can find it’s way to the program.
Definitely. Still don't understand why Garrett got rid of Gillespie. He had USC in 2 finals in 4 years and won one. The best USC had done in the CWS since 1978, so you don't throw that away Blithely. Garrett was right about the jealousy of cfb towards USC's success, but he was an idiot in just about every other dimension, including the half assed way he fired JRob II.
It appears this team can score runs. If the pitching comes around we might be ok for the first time in years. might finally have a good coach, first one since Gillespie retired. We have already played seven games versus ranked teams, 3 on the road versus Auburn and UCLA . not sure where the UCLA game was.
UCLA game was away. The conference series should be at Dedeaux. Oregon and AZ schools will decide the success or failure of the season. Those 12 games will be critical, as will the UCLA series. Off to a good start tho.
No it's an excellent series win. As I stated last week, this was an early season yard stick for Stankewicz and the team.
Didn't agree with Stank on his pitching maneurvers in game 1 and his pitching change late in the game surrendered the 2 winning runs when stanford had 1 out and nobody base when he made the change. I disagree with changes under those circumstances (I'm assuming they had hit a pitch count limit, but then make the change starting that inning or let the current guy who is doing a good job try to get thru the inning).
Pitching is the biggest issue (has been for years). The team appears to get by on heart more than talent, so this is a total rebuilding year. 0.500 conference record is the yard stick. We'll see if that happens.
Checking in to announce my earlier posts on the team were evidently mostly horse crap. Good for the squad.

No shit. A ray of hope?

Stanford is the #2 ranked team in the country, so I would say any series win vs them is a good one. Let's keep it going.
