On a more somber note. TA Sr. turned 98 3/15. He has fallen and won't make it thru the day. Big Red One, Omaha beach 1st wave, the Bulge with 3rd army and Patton and as 1st Sgt of an SS prisoner camp for 6 months. His parents left Munchen in'22 for the US, after being beat, and stabbed by commies and the fascist's. He was a mgr at BMW in Augsburg Bavaria. Dad met his paternal grandfather for the first time after he was ordered home and going awol, his town was destroyed just outside of Augsburg. 3 purple hearts, Chicago stud
Stud! I have an uncle who's turning 99 this year. 2nd wave at Omaha at just 18 years old. Youngest of 5 brothers, all drafted. Never says a word about it. His oldest brother was the stud. Fighter pilot then switched to Group Commander to pilot B-17 flying fortress over Germany and France. 25 bombing missions, not a scratch
