I suspect Az plays a better brand of defense than USC does. But that said, you are correct. I don't get the fixation with a lot of teams of emphasizing the perimeter game, except that it reflects a deficiency to coach any other way.

good question/point. i think its just come down to the math of it all.

Expected value of a made 3 at 33% is the same value as shooting 50% from two. I think this has a lot to do with modern BB. Its easy to defend the Math.

The theory may be easy to defend, but theory doesn't put the ball in the basket, esp. against top flight competition.
