NIA experts recommend taking certain steps to cope with individuals experiencing dementia-induced hypersexuality, such as "giving the person more attention and reassurance" or using physical affection in the form of a gentle touch or hug to meet the "emotional needs" of the dementia patient. If that doesn't work, the individual could require medication to control his urges.

In addition to hypersexuality, Waldorf has exhibited other common symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's, such as anger and agitation.
