Trojans can put it right next to the regular season champion ring Ucla has. What do you get for losing in the elite 8 or sweet 16? That makes you happy right? Losing fairly far along?
“On my first day on the job at USC last week, I said one of my goals was to return the USC baseball program to national prominence,” Haden said in a statement. “There is no reason we shouldn’t be there.
“We thank Chad Kreuter for his four years of hard work and service, but this move was necessary to revitalize our program. USC is synonymous with college baseball. This is the most successful and tradition-laden program in the country. We’ve won twice as many College World Series titles as anybody. We need to get back to our championship ways.”
No, losing in the NCAA tournament always sucks, whether it's in the first round or the championship game. 67 teams end their season with a loss, and that's never fun. But it is a lot of fun to watch the team advance, and there's always hope. I've seen it happen in my lifetime, and I hope to again. The tournament is a minefield, and so many deserving teams lose...but some team has got to win it. And that's the bottom line -- you gotta be in it to win it. USC should be doing more, more often, that's the point.
UCLA probably won't get regular season championship rings for hoops. I doubt it.
That was me. Yeah, if USC could survive into the sweet 16, I agree the experience and exposure are invaluable. Going out decisively in the first round every year, not so much. So I stand by my NIT take. Didn't say that SC would/could win the NIT, but they would hopefully go more than just a couple of rounds deep, but who knows. Enfield would be out coached by some YMCA coaches I used to play against...
Working out well so far for Oregon. Three best players for Oregon out with injuries for these first two NIT games. The rest of the bench is really gelling and coming together. It's not pretty much of the time (especially the need to include the scrub walk-ons for stretches). But undoubtedly it will make for a better team for the 2023-2024 season.
Don't see a downside to it. Just like I don't see a downside to playing non-playoff bowl games... Opting out of either is just short-sighted.
Sucks to not be in the NCAAs, but happy to be 1 of 2 p12 teams still dancing, even if in the NIT.
Well this didnt suck…,

Don‘t short shrift SC. Not just participant, first-round runner-up
