UCLA at full strength would have steamrolled these teams. Gonzaga pads it’s stats vs the weak WCC. Gets 2 relatively easy games in the Tournament, wins a tough game but can never win 3 tough games in a row. They’re used to having 3 tough games a year and it’s too much for them.
I just want the refs to be consistent. They called a completely different game against Gonzaga vs. UConn than Gonzaga vs. UCLA. I don't care how they call it, just try to be consistent. It's hard enough coming up with a game plan to try to beat an opponent, you don't want to have to alter anything due to the officiating.
As for Gonzaga vs. UConn, I never would have thought they'd shoot so poorly. Some of that was obviously bad shot selection due to UConn defense, but some of it was just pressure. I never thought I'd see that, but I never thought I'd see UCLA go over 11:00 without a FG either. Shit happens, and it usually happens when Murphy's Law takes effect.
Yea I agree about the officiating. My buddy was at the game and told me that Jaime and Tyger were just gassed. Both were really sucking air from playing so many minutes compensating for the injured players. He really thought that 11 minute stretch of not scoring was due to fatigue. It was just enough to affect the shots. It’s just amazing how they dug deep coming back from a 10 pt deficit with just over 2 minutes left in the game to actually take the lead with 12 seconds left.
I think as long as Cronin is there, the Bruins are going to be competitive, but he's going to have a challenge getting kids to buy in to his philosophy, just like Howland did. Defense wins championships, I really believe that, but you need a dynamic offense. And kids want to be The Man. And the thing is, The Man is recognized as the offensive hero, not the defensive stalwart.
How many times have we seen players this tournament blow shots by going for the monster dunk and see the ball bounce off the back of the rim, when all they had to do was lay it in? It's the same two points, but it's not as heroic, so they get too tempted to be The Man.
And don't even get me started on 3-pointers. That is a double-edged sword if one ever existed.

Speaking of embarrassing…
That was fucking pathetic. UCoon fans are the biggest pieces of shit on the planet too.
I said UCONN will win the Title no one even close. Hope I’m wrong and San Diego St wins.
I'm not saying I'm glad the Zags beat the Bruins (duh!), but I would've hated to see UCLA get beaten like a drum against UConn -- and they would have.
Zags never had a friggin' chance, even before halftime.
