Greatest college forward of all time

I never enjoyed watching a player more than Sidney Wicks. What that man could do on the court was sick at 6-8 he gave up 6 inches to Artis Gilmore 7-2 in the NCAA Championship game vs Jacksonville. Wicks amazingly leaped out of the building to block 4 of Gilmore‘s shots.

I go with Jamal Wilkes. Great defender, rebounder and scorer. Clearly Wickes was more spectacular but Wilkes was more steady and an all around better defender. I would also consider Dave Meyers in that discussion.

I would give the edge to Wilkes as an NBA player and Chick Hearn used to say Wilkes with another 20 ft layup plus he had 4 rings but strictly speaking of college Wicks dominated at the forward position. The Wicks, Rowe combination was as good as it gets and obviously a huge factor in winning 3 Titles in a row. In that pic I posted above Wicks moved to center to defend 7-2 Gilmore and then would switch back to forward alternating with Patterson to disrupt 7’0 Pembrook Burrows. Wicks was instrumental in shutting down an imposing Jacksonville frontline. Jamal great in his own right could not have done that IMO.

Dave Meyers another great , I always thought he was the most fundamentally sound Bruins of all time. He always made big plays was relentless and seemed to never make a mistake.

I remeber that game and that block. I believe there were two of them. He was spectacular. What happened to him in the NBA?

No Jamal could not have made those blocks.

Wasn't Wicks about 6:8 and Wikes about 6:6.
