Your first sentence says it all. By saying the O was not centered around one guy means (to me) he was less valuable vs a guy who was clearly the focal point.

Speaking of Minnesota were you around in the days when the Vikings with Joe Kapp would play the Rams in the Western division playoffs at the old Metrpolitan stadium in those insane snow storms? Rams had Roman Gabriel, Deacon Jones and Merlin Olsen but would always lose back there against a tough Viking team with not only Kapp, but Carl Eller and Allen Page. Rams coming from fair weather LA never could play well in the cold.

No, I moved to Minnesota long after those days. I don't really recall Kapp's playing days, but I certainly remember Tarkenton. I remember those games well, and they broke my heart. If it wasn't the Vikings who were beating the Rams in the playoffs, it was the Cowboys.
