Not sure this bothers me.
What I find interesting is mid major transfers having such succesful 2.0 careers in major conferences.
Is it talent? Is it age? Combo of both?
A great mid major player who is 21/22/23 is better then most 4/5 star 17/18 year old?
Based on ucla and usc recruiting and non impactful 4/5 star dudes maybe that is the case. Knect, Clayton Walker Jr and Broone all played for schools we’ve never seen on TV. They are 3 of best players in college last two seasons.
Rutgers had two top 5 picks and went sub .500. I mean what is going on?
Also NIL helps keeps players around. So good/average college players get better and better.
Also any mid major success coaches IMMEDIATELY get poached by big name
Schools. Hard to sustain success in this system.
That is the biggest reason for success with Mid-Major transfers, it is that they are able to be inserted into a really good fit for both player and program. They are not coming from a situation where they are already paid, and "stick around" like you alluded to, which is sometimes not the best thing for both parties, but it is comfortable. They come in with fire and bring their own lunch, ready to work to make the league.
