Now that’s a perfect example of what I’m talking about and what coaching mismanagement can do to fans. You don’t believe they can beat Marquette why? Not as talented? SC has the talent to make a deep run if the personnel is used correctly. It’s too bad Enfield will probably run his usual perimeter offense , soft defense and make you look really smart.
Personally I think you’re over rating the talent on this team. For starters there is no depth at all. Then you have the starting big who plays great defense but can’t shoot worth a lick. The other big is great but is a ticking heart away from retirement and has limited minutes. Boogie turned out solid. Albeit a bit streaky. Peterson is a mismatch to defend. After that you’ve got some role players and no true point guard. This is overall CAE’s least talented team in five years imo. It’s an above average team that isn’t that good imho.
That said - Coach in game is not very good. But indint see this team dripping in talent personall.
I don't think anyone really thought they wouldn't. Is was ASSU that was up in the air.
Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that ASSU has to play in the play-in game instead of USC. USC did beat UCLA, but ASSU beat Arizona. Not sure how the other games played out.
Then again, USC is still probably better so I guess it makes sense. It's actually a good sign that the committee apparently didn't put a lot of weight into the conference tournaments, nationwide.
In 1970? They've had a conference tourney for that long? I can really only recall back to the late 70's. But I assumed it was in the early-mid 80's(around NCAA tourney expansion) when conf tourneys started.
The ACC was formed in the early 50s and has had a post-season tournament from the start. Until the NCAA tournament expansion in the late 70s, they were only one, so your memory is mostly correct.

USC has a decent shot at winning. Mich state underperformed over the last month or so. Eight wins and eight losses over their last 16 games.

4 from the Pac not bad. Mich St. is always a tough out should be a good game.
