The p12 will be getting at least 1 team in the Elite 8 this season! Maybe 2 more? Hopefully!
I'll be happy if it will be USC, and as I predicted early on (they call me Nostra-duckus)--I've never seen a USC team with the potential to make the Elite 8 before...and my time goes back to just before the Harold Miner days at the Sports Arena.
But I'll be ecstatic if it's my Oregon quacks who make it. 😎
USC is a real threat to win it all. Oregon might be their toughest test other than Gonzaga.
That game last night reminded me of the 2005 Orange Bowl against Oklahoma. Going up against a blued blood in the postseason, with the odds about even - then absolute destruction, one-sided beatdown. Maybe the best win in hoops program history.

As a typical SC guy, I do not know how to react when we have such a good team, Football I understand (I have a good memory), Basket ball these are uncharted waters for SC. Andy has to be a strong candidate for college coach of the year. When you consider only two guys on the whole team were at SC last year, in this corvid shorted season getting these new guys to play the best defense in college basketball is amazing. Now if we could make free throws, the impossible dream. I'm still a big Anderson fan, I have always loved tough inner city guys, starting with "Iron Mike".
I feel that way too. USC beat oregon. Looked good doing it. I think USC has the lower floor of the two teams and the higher ceiling. Meaning at their best USC can possibly win this tournament or maybe go Final 4. At their worst, USC could have lost to well. Anyone. So USC hit the Sweet 16. The PAC has 4.
USC absolutely annihilated blue blood Kansas on prime time TV with the country watching. That had to do a ton for USC and the PAC. So whatever happens I am happy. Oregon is a quality program and has been here before. I don't think this is their best team. But I think UO and all he PAC teams have clearly benefited from playing in our conference. If anything I think other than USC, this is a Conference win tournament. None of these teams re the best their schools have had. USC is unusual with Mobley and his brother. Though even they are a team of grad transfers, Anderson and the Mobleys. One way or he other the PAC gets 4 in teh 16. 1 in the 8 and I am hoping we can put 2 in the Elite 8. I think we have more teams in the Sweet 16 than not only any other conference but twice as many right?
This will always be a sore spot with me, but the SC team with the most Elite 8 potential -- and the only one with legit win-it-all potential -- was the 70-71 team that finished 24-2 but didn't make the tournament because it didn't win the conference and there were no at-large bids available.
The Miner team of 91-92 had the both the potential and a favorable draw. They were a 2 seed. Both the 1 and the 3 lost in the round of 32 but, of course, so did SC, on that bomb by James Forrest at the horn.
