Well that game isn’t what we were hoping for

Whatever. Today the Clippers are spending what. a Billion to built theirs? Staples probably couldn't be done for less than a billion or two. USC also owned that land. Add in the value of the land and it's a pricey arena.

As to my loose number of 25. He's won 25 this year and has at least 3 games left to play. I would guess they will end at say, 27. So I am underestimating him there. He won 25 last year and 22 in a year where they didnt' play the PAC-12 tourney or the NCAA and were going to both. Fairly safe to say he'd have won 3 more there. That would be 3 years in a row. 16-18 he was 21, 26, and 24 games. So like it or not, and quibble about whether the averages work out to 24 (really, you that petty?) or 25, Andy Enfield has won a lot of basketball games, more than a few at UCLA's expense.

USC is no longer two steps forward, 3 steps back. Maybe someone will hire him away and they'll go in the dumpster again. At the least he's made it a pretty attractive job and shown people who always wondered why USC wasn't good in hoops how thing could be. If I were a top coach I would look at USC as an amazing possibility. Best College arena in CA, maybe the west coast. Decent fan support. Recruiting hotbed. Top flight University. NBA pedigree and pipeline now. Winning established. And they pay over $3 million a year. And have shown in the football program they've got cash to spend. Oh, and there's no pressure to win it all or be fired like at UCLA. I'd say USC is as attractive a job as there is.

@Kit Bizkit don’t assume that. For years I laughed at usc for spending $400 million to move 2 blocks and still sucked.

Andy enfield recruits at the highest level and had brought usc back from the dead. They do lose to teams they shouldnt but also beat arizona about 1 of 3 times and ucla regularly. Oregon about half the time. if I’d told you that a decade ago you’d take it in a heartbeat. He wins 25 games a year and packs his preseason schedule with easy wins. Then goes 500 or slightly above in conference. He’s not the first coach to use that formula

they then go and win one game I’m the tournament and lost in the next round or in a good year lose in the sweet 16. And honestly I’d say that reflects about where usc is at right now. A top 15-16 team. No idea if they can build on that or if this is the peak. But someone who remembers wayne Carlander and Stan morrison these are some pretty good times

@Waldorf it’s not just length Albeit it’s a big one. It’s also quickness & jumping ability Aka Athleticism. UCLA has elite shooters. They are also unathletic and short. Shooting keeps you in any game. It’s a great strength to have. But the other issues are also hard to overcome.

@Pasadena Trojan The Bruins are definitely too short overall, but I wouldn't say they're unathletic. If they were, they wouldn't be able to play the kind of defense that keeps them in most games.

@Pasadena Trojan As I have said over and over, he doesn't win the big games against really good teams. Practicing the press and using it to disrupt an opponent makes sense. It worked for Wooden but nobody has the personnel he did.
