When Does Isiah Collier Get Drafted?

Idk. If I were a GM, 18-25 sounds right?

But heard its a very weak draft.

If he could consistently hit a jumper and 6’6” he’s Top 5. Elite quickness and passer tho.

Lots of good guards this class as well.

We were told he was the #1 pick in the draft coming into USC. For sure top 5. All year we heard lottery and possible top 3. And game after game I said "uh, I don't know what you are all looking at but this guy sucks. Maybe he will be good some day but I can't see how he is a top 3 draft pick"

Was the most overrated recruit at USC of all time. And that says a lot give OJ Mayo.

Complete BUST.

I think 29 pretty much proves me right on that one, though he's still a first rounder. Colorado had two like in the first 20. Cal had 1-2 also.

Overrated for sure but a long way from the MOST overrated SC recruit ever. Collier has a game. If he focuses on what he's good at, he can be very productive.

The most overrated SC recruit was Leonel Marquetti. He had no game at all and you could see it in pre-game warmups. He got by in high school (Verbum Dei) by dunking over shorter kids. He was advertised as 6-11 his junior year, 6-9 his senior year. By the time he got to SC he was 6-4 1/2, which kinda took away the one-on-one dunk part of his game. You wondered how any coach who scouted him didn't see his game for what it was.

Its easy to be critical actually. And its weird to do it to guys wearing your school colors.

its also not easy Playing up To the level of the #1 overall Pick. Or Even Top 5. Especially At 6’4”. Size matters.

I mean saying a guy is overated when he gets 15 ppg vs 30 ppg

I actually think he was better than OJ Mayo. But I had HIGH hopes for OJ. One of best HS recruits ever.

He was never that guy. Unfortunately.

Isiah could stick in nba if he learns to shoot. Big if. I also like him as a 2nd unit heater guy. An all gas kind of guy.

Other big 5 star we got was the Artesia HS Center back in day. He was best big in Country at time and he lasted about 5 games it seemed.

Charles O Bannon was a 5 star bust.

As was alphabet Center who played last few years.

Ooinga Boingo and Evan Mobley kind of panned out for us.

Would he have been better off staying in college one more year?? He went from Top 5 to almost out of draft???

But he flashed some skills.

I dont know what #29 gets paid?? At least $5M? I will look up.

As an average fan who watches about 7-10 sc games a year for the last 40 + years I was hoping this kid was all that .

What I saw was a flashy athlete that didn’t affect the outcome of games. he wasn’t a great shooter. He wasn’t a force on defense . He sucked at free throws. He didn’t make his teammates better. From the movie one on one. Just another hot dog.

Maybe that works in the NBA? Have no idea and don’t care. sc

But also Remember it’s still easier to fall from #1 then to stay on top. Lots of people want that crown but it is heavy
