Only took 3 games to establish that 12 are 4 teams too many. Huge gap between the top 6-8 teams and everyone else. Besides, I don't want the 12th best team in the country to have even a puncher's chance at winning the NC.
Go to 8 teams. Eliminate the pre-Christmas first round. Play the big bowl games between Christmas and New Year's Day, with the top teams allowed to select their venue in order of seeding. Then play the semis a week later in places like Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, and Indy, and the Finals in mid-January.
This was never complicated.
as I originally suggested, 8 teams play in the big 4 new years games. keeps ALL the tradition. parades etc.
then final 4 play in two rounds of playoffs.
Championship Saturday is the week before the Super Bowl.
no shitty games like these have been that kill the interest. sc
The unintended consequence of a 12 team play off is that some teams got in who shouldn't have, although it enabled me to clean up on the home teams with my bookie thus far.
twelve is ok the more the merrier. Or how about an 8 team playoff with 4 big 10 teams and 4 SEC teams. I don’t think so
clemson within 7, and could have been within 3. pretty good for being on the road, which imo is the real issue with these first round games. They should all be neutral site games.
disagree. These games have been anticlimatic, but that's b/c programs that should be involved like bama, lsu, usc, aren't bc of their own failings. Props to Indi, smu clemson and boise for having successful seasons, but if usc and lsu had real coaching and bama didn't put vandy on the map, we'd have a real 12 team playoff to enjoy.
No byes based upon seeding ....and I go the other way with 16 teams. not 12....and they need a new formula for deciding the top teams and seeding.....won lost record should not be the deciding factor when some schools play nobodies...
Not a horrible idea….👍
I was JUST telling someone that. So far, this tournament is stupid.
