Dumb run formation + play calling by Sark. Show he's not that smart in the RZ.

His friend, C. Kiffin knows that a power formation gets the TD inside the 5 yd mark. C. Kiffin has a power Wildcat formation, no QB or RB; instead ball is snapped to one of his 325+ lbs DL, who runs the ball behind 2 TE's in the backfield blocking and targets a point of attack. The point of attack is between the T and other TE on the line. This formation has a total of 3 TE's and 2 Wr's spread out to pull out the CB's and Safeties.

Ole Miss and C. Kiffin scores a TD 99 % of the time. That 1% miscue = a penalty or bad snap...

Back in the 80's, the Chicago Bears ran a similar short yard formation and run play and was very successful.

Amidst all of the tv and board second guessing here is what it comes down to.

At some point you are who you are. You play the season. You get to that moment right? And you throw your best pitch. Curve al. Fastball to the corner. Whatever. In this case you have 4 plays to gain 1 yard.

You know what I say? I say if we have four shots to run straight ahead and we can’t get in the end zone running between the tackles four times for one yard? Then we don’t deserve to be in national champions.

And I can actually live with that We are playing a physical game. We are in a turf war. And it’s big man on big man. This why you run those trench drills. Let’s do it. They win you shake their hand. We win we go to overtime.

Absolutely. Texas’ identity is that OL, in that scenario, that moment…you absolutely call on them. Put Ewers under center, and poubd them 4 downs.

If they hold, then you tip your cap, sometimes you just get beat. But you absolutely do not go away from your strengths in crunch time.

I don't understand why some coaches run plays wide that close in. A bit more than 10 yards of field to defend and with the speed of DBs and some LBs that are that close to the LOS, they can run those plays down
