It’s possible that he went to Washington to get out from
Behind Andy Reid’s skirt and to establish his own resume and merits. But he’s finding that to be a lot
Harder than it looks. He as a genius when Mahomes and KC were winning and so was he. Easy to forgive a checkered past when you win. Now that he’s on his own and not a genius. Just a coach. Suddenly that Colorado scandal and the weird fire fight. lol. Great term. Suddenly those give a team pause. And while the dui was 20’years ago. It’s still a tile in the mosaic
The knock on Bieniemy (coaching wise) is that Reid was the play caller. However, Bieniemy was a big part of the overall game plan on offense & even though he didn't call the plays in game he worked closely with Reid on the pre-game strategy and plan.
More importantly, he was the one who held the players accountable. During workouts, practice, etc, he was the disciplinarian and kept players focused. If receivers dropped balls in practice or ran the wrong route he was all over them. The chiefs had a ton of drops this year and Mahomes stated that the team missed that discipline. Guys like Toney would be ridden hard in practice. Bieniemy wasn't afraid to go after Kelce either when he felt he wasn't giving 100%. In Mahomes first year as a starter - the one he threw for over 5k yards, Bieniemy had him run laps for being late to a team meeting.
As a Chief's fan, I think that discipline is going to be good for the Bruins. IF - a very big IF - his style of holding players accountable works at the college level.
I like EB. His best option at QB at Washington was a 5th rounder starting for the first time. UCLA linemen must have jumped early at least 3-4 times per game and were drive killers. That crap is going to stop.
Fina and DiGeorgio have to improve their pass blocking for this offense to work.
The knock on him is that Andy Reid called the plays at KC. So, Bieniemy didn’t get the credit for the offense’s success. The guys who got the jobs were play callers for several years plus had ZERO run-ins in their past. If I were an owner, I would have hired someone else too. I think Foster got the job for continuity reasons more than anything. UCLA lost zero players after Kelly left.
Good hire, guy has been around. Interesting he woukd take a job behind a guy with a lesser resume.
Bienema--as he was known before.
uh, shouldn't he have been the head coach and Debong the associate head coach ?
oh that's right, merit doesn't matter anymore in America. keep forgetting. sc

That is a fanastic hire. why would you ever be upset?
I think UCLA lucked into that one.
