How dooes Texas getaway with it...the University is making direct $50k payments to every HS OLman they get a LOI from? Seems like UT is not getting the boosters to do it to have UT pay the recruits directly
@OldHickoryTrojan at this point, it no longer matters where it comes from.
This is a free for all. And guess who gets hurt the most by it? Yup, the kids.
How long do you think it’ll take for a school, that just paid for a player, to release that player, say he got injured. What’s to keep the school from kicking him to the curb at years end? To make room for another player.
The pay to play advocates and the players think this helps them, and it does. For now. But make no mistake, these schools and boosters are going to want a return on their investment, and if that doesn't happen, theyll be a lot quicker to cut the cord then they used to be.
College football has been ruined by this nonsense. They opened Pandora's box when they started to allow players to get paid and started this transfer portal. We all know some players got paid under the table before but now it's a farce.
@tempomacdougall LOL…..These kids have never balanced a checkbook.
Cant wait for hookers, blow and shootings on campus, which is gonna happen with that kind of money. It’s going to be a cross between a strip club and crackhouse.
College football is now the minor league baseball equivalent for the NFL.
Hopefully this gets all the shenanigans out of the darkness into the daylight.
It's a brave new world!

when does the IRS get involved?
it may be a day late, if not a dollar short.
sure they landed a ton of high school talent. It's always a gamble , especially in the trenches.
Who knows which high school kid can actually play football at the collegiate level?
the future appears to be the transfer portal, where PROVEN players are found and even starters are not putting themselves up on the trading block.
scouting high school talent is so millennial sc
