Grinch showed good improvement at Wazzu and OU. There was reason to believe that with added talent, he could make the same leap at USC but that obviously didn't happen.
Why? Because he won 11 games after a 4-8 season, and a roster of crap...I'm sure he thought with better talent things would be better.
Again....this is his first rebuild, he's going to make mistakes. I think you should be more focus what he's doing now. I just read he's not done with the D staff....more changes are coming.
Not sure how you can be pissed that he's doing exactly what you wanted.
What he's doing now is again the easy part of the job, one that he should have been smart enough to figure out last year. He wasn't smart enough then and I doubt that improves. Again, the rubber hits the road with coaching up the talent and he seems to want to avoid having to do that. Thus his attraction to bringing in talent other coaches have already coached up and then he just gets to pretend he's the smartest guy in the room. This is not going to end well, which is what I told the board last year (in the middle of his 11 win season, of course sans UO and UDub, so count him more lucky than good.).
I ran into the same Oklahoma fan and he asked me how ucla was going to compete in the Bog 10 or division 1 for that matter with the the 55th rated recruiting class, which happens to be next to last in Big 10. Don't shoot the messenger.
Rumor has it that Tackett Curtis going into the Portal had a lot to do with the firing og Alex Grinch. I suspect the fact USC is bringing in some Lbers may also have something to do with it but if it was all about Grinch ..it tells me this kid has some growing up to do and takes into perpsective that possibly his decisioning process needs a little work. IMHO...said it when I orginally saw his tape this kid is a Safety or Nickel back who plays with his hair on fire...not coached enough to convert ot LBer....
By the way I'm not sure the exodus is over...I suspect there will be more...obviously USC was worried about Maki Lemon as they put hm back at WR from Corner. The kid didn't want to play corner and is friends with Nelson so putting him back to a position tht he wants to compete in makes sense. Personally I like the kid at WR..
OU better start worrying about what the sec is gonna do to them.
Some folks have been bitching about the defense for over a year( and rightfully so) coaches this, players that....
So when LFR retools his defensive staff and pushes unproductive player out....now folks are, OMG, SC is falling apart. We're DOOMED!!!
smh

Good question for their own team. USC has had 15 kids enter ok 14. Yawn
