so imo here keys are giving Up a 2 for him. And it’s a 1 if he plays a lot. Which may work because if he plays a lot he may well play 2-3 years. And if he’s effective you can give up a 1 for that. I also think in many sports the astronomical value of these guys contracts makes simply taking them on a risk unto themselves. So paying even more in terms or personnel capital? Don’t think you are that as much anymore.

I don’t know the cap rules. Didn’t know that about Rogers. If he does one year deals then why didn’t he just leave and go sign w someone else? Something not right there.

if you’re a gm and you see a guy like say aaron judge and he signs for $50 mil a year you wringe your hands and say “man I’m not sure if I’d do that for where else I could spend that $50 milllion” right?

then if someone Says ok I’ll trade him to you and not only do you get to pay him $50 mil but I want your starting 1b your top two prospects and your top draft pick. You’re like yeah. No thanks
