With both Riley and Cristobal bolting how will Oklahoma and Oregon react tonight under interim coaches? Ducks aren’t that good and the Sooners have to still be feeling like WTF.
Oregon has about 52 active scholarship players (down from 88 at the beginning of the season) due to injuries, opting out, transfers, etc. Oregon will be playing a ton of walk-ons in this game.
Reminds me a lot of the Vegas Bowl vs Boise State that Oregon played when Taggart suddenly left in mid-Dec for FSU in 2017. Oregon lost 38-28 and it wasn't that close of a game.
I think OU (Oklahoma) has a real advantage over UO (Oregon) in bringing back Bob Stoops for this one game. Would love to have seen Oregon bring back Mike Bellotti for this one game (instead we get a team of lame-duck--pun intended!!--assistant coaches who have all been hired to work elsewhere as of January 1st).
The Sooners will be up for this game, especially with Stoops back. Many are calling for revenge after the 2006 Oklahoma game at Autzen where they felt the home-cookin' refs "gave" the game to my quacks.
What's funny is I remember going to Oklahoma for the duck game in Norman in 2004, and how much every man, woman and child in that state HATED the Trojans at that time, and this was BEFORE their evisceration by USC at the end of the season in the Orange Bowl.
And then following that 2006 UO at OU game how much they HATED my quacks more than USC. But now it's turned 180 degrees back to HATING you Trojans again more than my duckies now that you've stolen their coach.....LOL. Funny sh|t.
So I'm not expecting much in this game, just like I wasn't in the Vegas Bowl in 2017. Unlike the Vegas Bowl, our new coach won't be coaching in this one since he's getting the Georgia defense ready for the playoffs. And not saying that he is gonna be another Stoops, but it is an interesting footnote that OU gambled on defensive coordinator Bob Stoops as a first-time head coach in 1999, and that didn't turn out too badly for them...
So sit back and enjoy my quacks losing big tonight in a game that doesn't matter and likely will not remind anyone of what's to come with Dan Lanning as head coach, just like the results of the Vegas Bowl reminded no one of what was to come with Mario Cristobal as head coach.
Hey nice reply LA Duck some good info I enjoyed reading it. I look at tonight’s game as the start to the real bowl games upcoming and despite all the stuff these two teams have dealt with their are some really good players on both sides. Should be fun to watch.
Alternate post title: remember the Alamo. And you’re welcome Duckies, we took their entire staff just to help you win this game. Go Pac!
My prediction: 37-20 Oklahoma
