I think that’s key. College or not. Barry sanders was astounding but there’s something easier about playing for a team that’s on probation. You have nothing to play for so you can kinda load up your season around the individual stats and attention one player garners. As opposed to Rodney Pete, who’s chief focused that year was surviving every week and keeping his team at the top of the rankings. And of course, staying out of the hospital with me.
Having said that. Barry sanders was quite a back. I’m just not sure if doing it against Kansas and Iowa state was really all that His nfl career certainly validated him
Marcus was probably the best all around running back in NFL history. A great runner, pass receiver and blocker. No one did all three things better than he did. His lifetime stats would be better if Al Davis didn’t throw a hissy fit because Marcus was getting more credit for the super bowl win than Al so he ordered his lackey coach to bench Marcus for 3/4 years while still paying him starter money. Davis was a first class prck.
Confusing list. Is that pro or college? Career or single seaso. Impressive.
If it’s career and pro then bo is out. I’d say same with Campbell. If it was passing the eye test and not about durability and length then Walter Payton is out or way down.
if you’re basing Tomlinson on longevity and career then Marcus Allen is there. Way high.
Erick Dickerson didn’t do anything with the colts and Charles white replaced him and snorted his way to the nfl rushing title. That tells me it wasn’t Eric. It was Jackie slater and company.
Gale sayers joins Bo and earl as flashes in the pan. If those guys make the list then so does Terrell Davis.
I agree that Jim Brown. Oj. Barry and Emmitt belong on that list. Beyond that? Your guys plus Marcus. Plus Terrell Davis. Can debate all of them for inclusion.
OH was the better runner Marcus the better all around player. Take your pick who was better
i saw them both, and also Arnett. Simpson was in a higher plane than Marcus , and Marcus was outstanding. Arnett was right there with OJ
Didn’t realize you’re this slow, I included OJ in the top 10 list of greats that’s hardly degrading him you just don’t like the ranking.
Still waiting for your list.
College?
If I had to pick one for my team it would be Bo Jackson or Derrick Henry. Probably Bo.
It's impossible to compare running backs from a different era . sc
OJ maybe in top 10, no way #2
1 Jim Brown
2 Walter Payton
3 Gale Sayers ( no one could change gears like Sayers)
4 Bo Jackson
5 Barry Sanders
6 LaDainian Tomlinson (almost 14,000 yds rushing)
7 Eric Dickerson
8 Earl Campbell
9 Emmitt Smith
10. OJ Simpson
